6 Marketing Non-Negotiables

This topic comes up every day in all my coaching calls.

“My FB ad is not working.” I haven’t gotten any conversions. I am not getting enough leads.

If you really want to make the most of your marketing campaigns, there are some non-negotiables at least in my opinion and experience.

EVERYBODY is marketing, just look on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and every other form of social media. However, Just because everyone is doing marketing does not mean that they are winning at marketing. Honestly, the majority of folks are not. Just saying

I suggest spending some time reflecting on this and see if any of this helps you.

You need to have a strategy. Like any other marketing, you need a strategy if you expect to be successful.

One of the things that I have learned in my coaching experience is how many businesses lack a strategy for their marketing. No one would argue that strategy is a simple ingredient to success.

Get a marketing calendar ASAP and get your marketing down for an entire year! If you are new to owning your business you can start with one month at a time until you get a year planned and then you have a blueprint for the future.

You need to get known. Really known. If you target a specific audience that has no idea who you are, your marketing will be less effective no doubt. You can’t run a campaign to a generic cold audience that doesn’t know you and expect to get results.

Think of all the times you have been “marketed” and you have no idea who the person is or their credentials, did you buy? Most likely not! This alone will increase the amount of money you will have to spend in order to get results just like direct mail.

You need to deliver more great content. (keyword-great) I understand its hard to deliver great content and it’s very time consuming but you have to do it or figure out a way to do it or outsource it. There are many ways you can do this especially when you are new to the business.

I recommend that you use Lynn Coffee, a friend of mine that is a website strategist and incredible writer. She has a service that creates and posts content for you! And it’s only $50 monthly. Most social media marketers will charge $100’s to create content for you. Listen to her in this short video here. If you are not doing it, you need to figure out a way to get it done quickly if you need leads, especially warm ones that will most likely buy at some point.

You need to promote your content to your audience. How?

Promoting your content is just as important as creating it. Otherwise, it’s useless.

Here are some ways to promote your content:

  • Email newsletter.
  • Marketing email to a lead magnet landing page.
  • Tweets. Be sure to tweet it several times, and ask for retweets.
  • Facebook posting.
  • Sharing in LinkedIn.
  • Share your content with other well know fit pros and ask them to help you promote it.
  • Make solid contributions to other groups and FB groups and then soft pitch your stuff.

You need to spend more!

Straight up, $10-$15 per day for a few days is a waste of time and energy. Those days are over for sure. You need to spend what works! Simple, harsh and true.

Get out of your comfort zone if you want to succeed.

You need to have realistic expectations. Seriously. Geez

I talked to a person the other day that was super frustrated with their FB ad results and I was literally floored when I began to ask questions.

  • What is your budget? $15 per day
  • Who is your audience? Just a local 15-mile radius men/women generic audience.
  • How long have you been open? 16 months
  • Do you have a landing page? No, just a Woofoo form.
  • What is that ad graphic? Just a generic one off Facebook.
  • Do you have an email list? No
  • Do you post any content on social media? Not really
  • How many likes do you have on your business page? Less than 300
  • How long had the ad been running? A few days.

Serious??

I don’t mean to be rude but you are telling me that you are spending $15 per day for 3 days marketing a brand new business, targeting a completely cold audience with no landing page, no email list using a generic graphic on Facebook where you only have a few hundred likes and rarely deliver content? WTH

Friends, this will never work.

Ad spend and branding/positioning in the market have an inverse relationship! This means that the less you are known or positioned, the more you will spend to get a lead. (WAY MORE)

If you are super well known and you deliver a ton of great content to your audience, your ad spend will be less and you will get more leads.

Answer the questions above with great answers and your marketing will win. It won’t be easy and there are ups and downs since everyone and their grandma is marketing on FB but you will succeed little by little.

I know this was a long email but it will be life changing for those that take it seriously.

Get on it!

To your success,

Coach Fred
